High Country United Church of Christ, with a roof perfectly situated for solar, is raising $35,000 to put a 10kW solar array on the roof of their building. "We feel strongly that we are called to be good stewards of the earth and this project will address global climate change by reducing our carbon foot print, reducing our dependence on coal obtained by mountain top removal mining, and serve as an example for the community of faith in action."
The congregation's vote to install the array took place July 26 and they are currently working on a website to describe the project. Until then, you can donate via the congregation's website; designate the contribution as "Solar PV System." Alternatively you can send a check to "HCUCC" at 8233 Highway 421-N, Vilas, NC 28692 and write "Solar PV System" in the memo line.
